Cognitive TCP/IP Protocols

In this project, we propose a cognitive approach for dynamic reconfiguration of communication protocols. The proposed cognitive framework provides dynamic self-configuration of TCP/IP protocols. It aims at optimizing performance in dynamic network environments by constantly adjusting operational point based on recent experience.

The cognitive approach can be applied to the dynamic reconfiguration of a wide range of network protocols.

The following are examples of cognitive reconfiguration at different layers of the protocol stack:

  1. CogTCP: cognitive optimization of the TCP window;

  2. CogMAC: cognitive reconfiguration of WiFi-MAC parameters;

  3. CORA: runtime cognitive optimization of the MAC data rate in wireless access networks.
