Cognitive Rate Adaptation - CORA

In this work, we propose a rate adaptation mechanism based on
the CogProt framework called COgnitive Rate Adaptation (CORA). The goal of this mechanism is to enhance the IEEE 802.11 wireless network element with self-configuration and self-optimization functionalities to dynamically adapt the data rate to avoid performance degradation.

In order to evaluate performance, CORA was implemented both in the Network Simulator (ns-2) for simulations and in the OpenWRT Linux distribution for experiments in real scenarios. The results underline performance benefits with respect to commonly existing rate adaptation algorithms, demonstrating that CORA is able to dynamically adjust data rate always matching current network conditions.
